Helix the bird

In April 2018, James Watson, known as the "Father of DNA," celebrated his 90th birthday at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. During this event, Jessica Anne Schwartz presented her artwork, "Helix the Bird," an ink and gouache drawing featuring birds dancing in a double helix formation. This piece symbolizes the beauty and interconnectedness of life, reflecting Schwartz's artistic exploration of genetics and nature.

While acknowledging Watson's significant contributions to science, Schwartz recognizes the complexities surrounding his legacy. Her work continues to celebrate creativity and the opportunities for art found in every aspect of existence.
