Hindsight (2015–ongoing) Auto salvage and mixed media

Rescued from a salvage yard in Queens, the rearview mirrors of Hindsight speak with a resonance that transcends their utilitarian past. For Schwartz, mirrors are portals of reflection—witnesses to what we leave behind, what we overlook, and what we carry forward.

In these works, birds become metaphors for souls, fleeting thoughts, and memories that have yet to unfold. The reflective surfaces invite viewers to confront themselves, to see not only their own image but the layered histories and imagined futures embedded within the glass. Hindsight premiered at the Hoerle-Guggenheim Contemporary in Chelsea, a fitting space for works that ask us to pause, to look back, and to honor the fragile threads that connect past to present.
