Horsefeathers (2018-ongoing) rescued horseshoes

Nestled within Yellowstone National Park on the private expanse of Silver Tip Ranch, Horsefeathers is an evolving land art installation. Made from ninety years of discarded horseshoes once worn by the trail horses and carriage horses that carried people and supplies across the landscape, Schwartz arranges these relics into delicate, feather-like formations. The structures echo the natural contours of Yellowstone’s moraines, creating a dialogue between the labor of the past and the enduring rhythms of the land. Begun in 2018, the work continues to grow and transform annually, shaped by both the artist’s hand and the shifting environment.
